These 10 Truths have Boosted My Personal Growth, Health and Productivity

CARNAVAL

My personal growth accelerated and life became infinitely more peaceful when I decided to eliminate personal drama.

Affirmations are great, but understanding some fundamental truths about life and the way our minds work is what moved the needle for me.

Once I realised the following, I felt tremendous relief.

  • I was able to let go of resentments, grudges, limiting beliefs, guilt, anxiety, and frustration.
  • In return, I won some (much-needed) peace, calm, and a firm rooting in myself.
  • As a bonus, my work began to improve.
  • Every day wasn’t a struggle anymore. I could do more, see more, and appreciate more.

If you’re ready to ditch the drama, these 10 truths that will rock your world (in a good way):

I can’t help everyone, even if I love them

Trying to fix everyone’s problems can be exhausting and unrealistic.

Despite your best intentions, you can only help others to a point. An individual’s personal growth is, ultimately, their personal business.

There may be no closure, unless I gave it to myself

Sometimes, closure doesn’t come from external sources—it comes from within.

If you’re waiting for an apology or explanation to arrive from somewhere, you could be wasting your time and holding back your personal growth.

Giving yourself closure frees up tremendous emotional energy. You feel instantly lighter.

Judging myself in hindsight is a mighty waste of energy.

Ruminating on past mistakes only holds me back from moving forward.

Instead of dwelling on what could have been, I focus on learning and growing from my experiences.

Trying to control outcomes is a recipe for unhappiness

Accepting that I can’t control everything has freed me from a lot of unnecessary stress.

This is not easy and I falter every day.

But I don’t get stuck here anymore because I’ve understood how foolish it is to be attached to something totally beyond my control.

Focusing on my thoughts and actions is the best use of my time and energy

Shifting my focus from external circumstances to internal growth has empowered me to create positive change. This has been the single biggest needle-mover for me.

My untrained mind was driving me crazy. The now somewhat trained mind is actually a delight to be with!

Life is just one breath after the other. Everything else is a construct

What’s productivity? A construct.

What’s success? A construct.

What’s happiness? A construct.

We spend so many years chasing constructs that aren’t of our making.

Life, in the meantime, is slipping by, breath by breath.

If you look at the fundamental nature of life you realise you don’t have to do or be anything to appreciate living. That greatest amount of richness comes from just being in the present moment.

Everything else is a distraction. But that’s the price we pay of functioning in the society. So, choose your distractions wisely.

I’m not everyone’s cup of tea and that’s a great thing

I am stupidly happy with this realisation.

Why do you even want to be liked by everyone?

I focus on being authentic and true to myself, being liked is a bonus.

Not everything happens for a reason

Accepting the randomness of life helps me make peace with unanswered questions and unexpected challenges.

Instead of searching for meaning in every event, I focus on finding meaning in how I respond to them.

Boundaries are beautiful

Protecting my energy, time, and space is crucial for my sanity. I also don’t think I need to justify setting healthy limits.

Setting boundaries is an act of self-care, not selfishness.

What I give up is as important as what I accomplish

Letting go of unrealistic expectations and unnecessary burdens lets me focus on what matters and that boosts my personal growth.

That which served me beautifully last year, might not be useful at all today.

And that’s ok.

We outgrow things, people, dreams, habits, and routines.

Like a tree sheds its old leaves to grow new ones, we need to shed old identities and narratives to keep changing with time.

To Conclude

Embracing these truths has transformed my perspective, and freed my mind from unnecessary stress and worry.

I’ve accepted life’s uncertainties, its inherent unfairness and randomness.

Focus on what I control is improving my life in all areas.

I’ve found greater peace, productivity, and fulfilment. And that’s my wish for you, too.
